Controlled environment agriculture makes it easier to cultivate, access, and enjoy fresh, healthy food.
Controlled environment agriculture provides growers greater control over how and when food is grown. It is a concept that we hold near and dear at Greenhouse Towers, as it allows us to provide fresh lettuce, herbs, and more year-round. The process involves regulating growing conditions within our Greenhouse rather than depending exclusively on outdoor seasons and field conditions.
When you visit us in the Elkin, North Carolina area, you can see controlled environment agriculture up close. Our vertical tower systems allow plants to thrive without the use of traditional soil beds, helping keep the dirt off the produce while using the space available efficiently. Additionally, our plants are grown without the use of any pesticides or chemicals, and we are USDA GAP certified, which speaks to our dedication to responsible gardening and food safety.
Purchase Seedlings and Fresh Produce
There are many benefits to controlled environment agriculture. For instance, most of our lettuce varieties take roughly five weeks from seed to harvest. That reliable growth cycle allows us to provide fresh vegetables to local homes, restaurants, hospitals, and other organizations even when the temperature drops outside.
The technology also offers potential for people to grow food in innovative ways. Homeowners can use it as an alternative to conventional gardening when space is limited, while schools and institutions can utilize tower systems to educate students about agriculture, plant science, and food systems. We can even help you start your own Greenhouse in your hometown.
Controlled environment agriculture blends current technology with a simple goal: make it easier to cultivate, access, and distribute fresh, healthy food. Contact us today to learn more.
